Pothos, often called Devil's Ivy for its near-indestructible nature, is one of the most forgiving houseplants. Its trailing vines with heart-shaped leaves make it perfect for hanging baskets and shelves. Available in many varieties including Golden, Marble Queen, Neon, and Satin Pothos.

🌱Care Guide

Water when soil is dry to the touch. Extremely tolerant of irregular watering. Can grow in water alone. Trim vines to encourage bushier growth. Propagate easily from stem cuttings in water.

🧬Evolution & History

Epipremnum aureum evolved as a climbing vine in Southeast Asian forests. In its juvenile form, it has small heart-shaped leaves, but when it reaches maturity by climbing trees, it develops massive, deeply lobed leaves up to 1 meter long. This dramatic difference confused early botanists who classified juvenile and mature forms as different species.

💡Fun Facts

  • #2Juvenile and adult forms look so different they were once classified as separate species
  • #3Can grow leaves over 1 meter when climbing in the wild
  • #4One of the easiest plants to propagate from cuttings

FAQ

Why are my Pothos leaves turning yellow?
Yellow leaves usually indicate overwatering. Ensure the pot has drainage and let the top inch of soil dry between waterings.
Can Pothos grow in water forever?
Pothos can grow in water for years, but growth may slow. Change water every 2 weeks and add diluted fertilizer monthly.
